York Ghost Merchants is a York-based independent business that has grown exponentially over the last few years. They produce unique handmade ghost figures that are released in their shop and online weekly.
They have a very distinctive brand and we were delighted to work with them and to take on the challenge of maintaining their brand through our photography

The brief
Consulting firm PW Does, who were working with York Ghost Merchants, approached us for press photography needed for York Ghost Week 2021.
They wanted to show ghosts that would be available to find around the city. These photos needed to be within the brand style of York Ghost Merchants.
Additionally, York Ghost Week included an exhibition at York Mansion House. They required photography and a short video to camera discussing the exhibition.
The work
To create the dark and moody look for York Ghost Merchant’s style, we had to get a little bit creative with lighting. Their model was only available during the day and they wanted authentic York street style in the shots.
Using an off-camera flash, we were able to bring the light down, whilst still keeping the models and products clear.
For the filming, we set up in a small space in York Mansion House using two cameras and a single light.
