Capturing a frozen spectacular
Every year, Visit York organises an Ice Trail across the city for residents, tourists and local businesses to get involved with. This year, Ice Box Designs provided two lots of 43 unique ice sculptures with the theme ‘Around The World’ which were placed around the city centre.
This event is a brilliant way of getting people into the city in the early months of the year. We were delighted to be asked to take a promotional video before the event, two days worth of photography of the event itself, and a video to look back on after the event had finished.
The brief
Visit York were looking for a 1 to 2-minute teaser video to show the ice sculptures being made by Ice Box Designs in London to build up excitement for the event.
They also required two days of photography during the event to capture each and every ice sculpture, along with the crowds of people that turned up to partake in the event.
We were also asked to film one day of the event to use as a look-back video to use on their website, and on social media too.
The work
We enlisted the help of freelance videographer and milnerCreative partner, Alex Brown, to work on both videos for this project.
Alex was able to travel with us to London and film the making of the sculptures in a giant freezer at -8C.
Alex then filmed the event with the help of Megan, whilst Alan spent the two days taking photos to capture the event itself.
